Maple Tree Description

The Butterfly Japanese maple tree is a very unique looking upright tree that reaches 8-10 feet high and 4-8 feet wide in 10 years. The multiple-stemmed branches are plentiful and grow to give the tree a vase-like shape. Its leaves are variegated, meaning “different colors.” The inside of the palmate-shaped leaf is green throughout the year, and the outside is a light pink color in the spring. The pink fades to a cream or white in the summer, and comes back as magenta in the fall. The Butterfly is extremely popular and does best with morning sun and afternoon shade, or filtered sun throughout the day. It is perfect for smaller spaces or closer to buildings and will brighten up a dark area in your garden.
